THE X men:
Baiyuensheng: I don't think it is a good idea. Zairil Khir Johari's resignation - eve...n if he does it without malice in the future - would be 'interpreted' as how DAP mistreated him and how racist DAP is. BN will have a field day.
Fido Dido: Scary. Zairil Khir Johari's father is an Umno stalwart. Has he taken an oath of secrecy for that position? There are numerous cases of such people quitting after some time in office and releasing all the secrets to Umno. This is only my opinion. The DAP leaders should know him well before deciding on this position.
KSN: This is good. But I cannot understand what wide experience a 28-year-old can have? He looks qualified, no doubt. Just thinking aloud.
Cheeyin: 28-years-old, ada apa 'wide experience'? DAP should fire their public relations agency or spokesperson. Even if Zairil is just a puppet, at least say that "we are not enhancing our team and building our team to be more multicultural and 1Malaysia, we just want to expose more young and vibrant members to the political world".
Temenggong: Looks like this appointment was made solely on account of his race. DAP is now using race politics to build a facade and entice Malays. It won't work. This will backfire on DAP later.
Isa@1penyu: It wasn't Utusan Malaysia that tagged DAP as anti-Melayu or anti-Islam - it's an established fact, courtesy of the words and deeds of the Lim dynasty. Any amount of appointments now will not change this perception. Not forgetting anti-Indian - look at how DAP treated M Kulasegaran using the Lim cronies in Perak.
Anonymous187: DAP has always wanted to show that it can be patronising and do the unthinkable, but really, they mock the whole process. Zairil is a guy who has dropped from above, was never heard of, never seen and has never been near politics, except the fact that he is the son of the famous Khir Johari.
MY FAV--> Tired: The appointment is to pave the way for Zairil to contest in the 13th general election. In fact, he can be the next Perak menteri besar if Pakatan Rakyat can reclaim the state from BN.DAP learnt a costly lesson when it did not think it fit to field a Malay candidate in Perak in GE12. It had the most number of seats among the Pakatan allies but because none of them was a Malay, the post had to be given to Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin from PAS as the state constitution says only a Malay-Muslim can be menteri besar. BTW, those who really believe DAP is multiracial should by now believe that cows do fly.
The Y-MEN:
Alan Goh: Taniah bro Zairil, on your appointment as the first Malay aide to secretary-general Lim Guan Eng. Be prepared for Umno to brand you as traitor to the Malays, which you are not.To me, you are a proud, confident Malay who is able to stand on your own two feet and tell the non-Malays, 'We can compete on a level-playing field, unlike the Malays from Perkasa.' You are like a candle lit in a dark room. Malaysia will see a brighter future if more moderate Malays share your views.
Bozo: Please, give Zairil a chance instead of crucifying him. DAP has to be seen as a multiracial party and it's time to bring other races to the party. I am sure with the vast experience of the DAP leaders, they will have faith in him. It doesn't mean that just because his father was with Umno, he has to be one, too.
A voice from the wilderness: Bravo DAP, everything needs to have a beginning. We are all calling for the end of racial politics, so isn't this an encouraging way to dismantle racial politics? You can't have the cake and eat it too. No courage, no glory! Give this young qualified man a chance to prove himself.
Joice Malathi: A very appropriate move by Lim Guan Eng. It's time to say 'NO' to race-based politics.
Johan A: Keep plodding on, DAP. One day Malaysians will see that you are not the racist that Umno and Utusan are trying to portray you to be. You were the first party to offer senior and important positions to qualified people who are not from your party - Lee Kah Choon from Gerakan is a good example - something that Umno/BN will never do. What you are now doing is also unprecedented. Well done!
Manjit Bhatia: It is appropriate for the DAP regime in Penang to bring a Malay to a high-level position. DAP needs to shed its Chinese party image a lot faster if it truly is democratic and represents all races.Let's hope DAP-PK does not foul up in Penang. Let's hope Zairil stays in his position for the long run. Guan Eng can deny all he wants, but if you read between the lines of his media conference, Zairil's appointment is a sharp response to Utusan Malaysia's charges of the DAP being predominantly Chinese, still.Let's see Zairil's performance over the next 100 days. Let's hope LGE does not wrap Zairil up in cotton wool, because that would be a dead give-away, wouldn't it?
Anonymous123: We should trust our brother LGE's sincerity to bring progress and happiness to all races in our loving country. We also hope our brother Zairil is sincere.
